The objective of this project is to solve the inconveniences caused by the current
location of the bus terminal in the center of the city of San Jose. The construction and
relocation of a new terminal near the National Route No. 14 highway is proposed.
The location of the current bus terminal generates problems in the maneuvers of the
buses and deterioration of the streets. For this reason, the construction and relocation of the terminal seeks to improve the efficiency of long-distance transport and offer a better experience to travelers. The new terminal will be strategically located near the highway, which will facilitate access and exit for buses. This will reduce traffic congestion in the city centre and prevent wear and tear on the streets. In addition, the new terminal is expected to provide a modern and functional image of the city to visitors.

ejecutivo.; This project was undertaken by students in their final year of Civil Engineering at the
Universidad Tecnológica Nacional - Facultad Regional Concepción del Uruguay, Entre Ríos, Argentina. It is a final thesis in which students have investigated and addressed a problem of the city that has a public interest and that can be solved by one of the branches of civil engineering. It is within this framework that this document deals with the relocation of the city's short and long distance bus station which, because of the
passing of the years, has been left with limited capacity and positioned in an overly urbanized area, causing traffic interferences due to the larger buses that have increased their size over the past years. The choice of the new location is the result of talks held with a member of the urban planning team of the city hall and the solution to the problem is a proposal of the members of this team that has been the result of an architectural, urban (such as vehicular circulation, pedestrian, etc.), environmental and commercial analysis. Its purpose is not only to relocate the bus station, but also to promote economic growth in an area of the city where more housing and industrial
functions are currently co-existing. The planned building is a linear construction in which the functions of a bus station and a shopping centre converge. It is made of a mixed structure of reinforced concrete and steel, and its façade is mostly a glass curtain wall. The architectural and urban planning aspects, as well as the complementary facilities and materials engineering, have been developed up to the preliminary design stage. The structural aspect has been fully developed up to the final design stage.
a través de “Floating Breakwater: A Theoretical study of a Dynamic wave attenuating
system” (M.W. Fousert B.Sc, Delft, 2006).
extremas.; One of the most problematic issues that Colón city, placed in Entre Ríos province
has, is the lack of nautical infrastructure for the habitants. The project topic was
recommended to the group by the 'Final Project' chair of the Facultad Regional
Concepción del Uruguay. At the beginning of the research, through interviews and visits to the actual location of the Club Náutico in Colón, the authorities of it expressed their desire to have a place that can accommodate the current demand for boats, as well as providing courtesy mooring services to welcome tourists and enhance tourism development in the area. After characterizing the area and studying its potential, the investigation of similar infrastructure precedents in the region and worldwide began. It was observed that, while nautical infrastructure is common, the development of a floating breakwater system is not. Initially, two alternatives were considered: a fixed breakwater and a floating breakwater. After evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of each system and conducting a SWOT analysis, it was decided that implementing a system of floating concrete blocks would be most appropriate.
The theoretical study of the waves in the Uruguay River was based on the 'Shore
Protection Manual' (Department of the Army, 1984), and regarding the floating
breakwater, on 'Floating Breakwater: A Theoretical Study of a Dynamic Wave
Attenuating System' (M.W. Fousert B.Sc, Delft, 2006). Wave attenuation will thus be
achieved through a line of floating concrete breakwaters flexibly interconnected and
allowing vertical displacement through moorings to pilings. Referring soil retention, the study of two limit states is developed, and the metallic sheet piling constituting the perimeter of the cove for the critical state is calculated. Above them, a series of pedestrian pathways materialized in a set of cobblestones is proposed, providing access to the Club entrance and parking area. Additionally, a semi-public social headquarters and cafeteria are proposed, a project designed by Architect Antonella Fredez. Finally, an Environmental Impact Assessment is presented along with a
contingency plan aimed at establishing a response to possible extreme flooding events.
