Resumen
This paper reports the results of an investigation regarding a comparative analysis between physical-mechanical properties of Argentinean Pinus elliottii and Pinus taeda. An empirical project enclosing 2 samples (233 boards) was designed. Bending strength, stiffness and density were determined by following the procedures of IRAM 9663. The results showed that, in spite of some discrepancy related to the density of both species, they have similar mechanical behavior, which is in line with the criterion adopted by Argentinean standards (CIRSOC 601; IRAM 9662-3; IRAM 9670). These results confirm the convenience of using this structural material as a group of species.
