Item The achievement of effective oral communication in EFL lessons by using two different approaches in teachers’ feedback(2025-11-07) Barla , María Belén; Castiñeiras, BeatrizDespite growing interest in communicative competence within English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pedagogy, limited research has examined how different feedback approaches influence spontaneous speaking performance. This study addresses that gap by focusing on B1-level Spanish-speaking learners aged 16 to 18 at a private English school in Valencia, Spain, during the 2022–2023 academic year. By comparing students’ spoken performance under two instructional approaches: communicative and traditional, the research explores how feedback style affects learners’ fluency, confidence, and grammatical accuracy in real-time communication. The study investigates the extent to which effective oral communication can be achieved in free speech tasks depending on the feedback method used. Its findings contribute to ongoing discussions about best practices in EFL speaking instruction and highlight the pedagogical implications of balancing form-focused and meaning-focused approaches to develop functional oral proficiency at the intermediate level.
