Item Urban Flood Resilience: Underground Vaults and Piping Systems in Parana, Entre Rios(2024) Pisano, Juan Pablo; Zandomeni, ManuelSummary— The following work focuses on the problem of floods in the city of Parana, which is the capital of Entre Ríos, located in the north-east of Argentina. The city's climate is humid and warm and with periods of rain distributed throughout the year. The city is constantly expanding, but often this is not accompanied by planning. The purpose of this work is to address the problem of floods on Almafuerte avenue in Paraná. It also describes and analyses the possibility of implementing underground vaults and piping systems to avoid future floods and improve its resilience. To achieve this purpose, this project is organized as follows. First, the city of Paraná is going to be briefly described. Next, the problem on Almafuerte avenue is going to presented. Following the analysis, some scenes are going to be described to visualize the problem. After that, the causes and consequences of the problem are going to be identified and analysed. Finally, the way forward to solve the problem is going to be discussed. Lastly, the strengths and weaknesses of the proposal are going to be presented. The expected outcome of this project is primarily to improve the quality of life of the local people. Additionally, it aims to promote sustainable actions to reduce the carbon footprint and impact in the ecosystem.
