    Contact fatigue behavior of α-Al PROOF 2 O -Ti(C,N) CVD coated WC-Co under dry and wet conditions

    The response to cycling contact fatigue load of a WC-6%Co carbide coated with a Ti(C,N)/α-Al2O3 CVD multilayer was investigated in dry and wet conditions. Imprints in dry conditions were characterized by small thin cracksformingacircumferenceatthemaximumradiioftheimprint.Thedamagedcoatingwastotallypresentin thefinalimprintofthedrytest.Wetindentationsshowcaseanareaintheimprintwherethe α-Al2O3 layerhas beenremovedthroughoutaringbutwaskeptatthecenteroftheindentation,suggestingthatthecoatingdamageundercyclingcontactloadinwetconditionsisdominatedbyα-Al2O3degradation,associatedwithafretting effectortangentialloadsacceleratingthefatigue-corrosionofthealuminalayer.

    Corrosion and properties of low temperature plasma carburized austenitic stainless steel

    This work has the aim of develop and characterize the low temperature plasma carburizing of stainless steel AISI 316L of two dierent grades (commercial and medical grades). The process was carried out in an experimental reactor in UL-Nancy, France, designed for low-pressure plasma treatments.

    Corrosion and wear properties of plasma nitrided 316L stainless steel

    Since 2010, in the frame of the European SUMA2 project and the binational project, the University of Saarland (Saarbrucken, Germany), the Leibniz Institute (Leipzig, Germany), INTEMA (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and the UTN-FRCU (Concepción del Uruguay, Argentina) have worked in collaboration to developed and characterize the successful nitriding of austenitic stainless steels by dierent plasma assisted techniques such as Plasma Immersion Ion Implantation (PI3), DC Pulsed Plasma Nitriding and Low Energy Ion Implantation (LEII) XRD have been performed in order to characterize the structure of the surface layers.

    The EU-RISE project CREATe-Network - Composites for resource-efficient applications and technologies

    The aim of the EU-RISE project CREATe-Network is to provide a platform for international and intersectoral collaboration between different academic and non-academic institutions in Europe, Latin America, USA and South Africa in the multidisciplinary field of advanced composite materials.
