Item Grid-connected photovoltaic system in an educational building. Overview and preliminary data analysis(IEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 2018-08-22) Silva, Luis; Berrino, Cristian H.; Ferreyra, Diego M.This article provides an overview regarding a real implementation of a grid-connected PV system on the building of Universidad Nacional de Rafaela, Argentina. The aim is to investigate and emphasize the importance of the whole experience carried out by an educational institution in the central region of Argentina. The first part of the study is focused on the current legislation, standards and programs related to renewable energy in general and grid-connected PV systems in particular. Afterwards, the design and sizing stage and the connection protocol are described in detail. In order to illustrate the solar potential in the region and the system performance, generation data accounting for the PV system are provided. Based on this information, preliminary conclusions are presented.Item Impact produced by a photovoltaic system on the energy utilization in an educational building(IEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 2019-09-18) Silva, Luis; Bucciarelli, Agustín G.; Berrino, Cristian H.; Ferreyra, Diego M.The article analyzes the energy utilization in the main building of Universidad Nacional de Rafaela in Argentina during a complete year from 01-May-2018 to 30-Apr-2019. The analysis comprises the energy consumed for the operation of the building as well as the energy produced by a grid-connected photovoltaic system. Firstly, an overview of the current legislation and public policies is introduced. Then, the energy consumed and the energy generated are characterized based on real data and the self sufficiency of renewable energy in the energy matrix of the educational building is quantified. Finally, the evolution of these energies along the year are compared against the estimation performed in a previous article.
