Abstract
This article provides an overview regarding a real implementation of a grid-connected PV system on the building of Universidad Nacional de Rafaela, Argentina. The aim is to investigate and emphasize the importance of the whole experience carried out by an educational institution in the central region of Argentina. The first part of the study is focused on the current legislation, standards and programs related to renewable energy in general and grid-connected PV systems in particular. Afterwards, the design and sizing stage and the connection protocol are described in detail. In order to illustrate the solar potential in the region and the system performance, generation data accounting for the PV system are provided. Based on this information, preliminary conclusions are presented.
