    Water Stress: Installation of a Community Water Tank in Los Cedros Neighborhood in Paraná

    Summary—In this work we are going to address a highly frequent problem in the city of Paraná, which is water stress. This problem mainly occurs in the highest areas of the city.Los Cedros neighborhood generally faces this situation. The purpose of this workis to sort out the low water pressure problem inLos Cedros neighborhood in the city of Paraná. To fulfill this aim, we are going to propose the installation of a community storage tank in a strategic point of the neighborhood. Resumen—En este trabajo vamos a abordar un problema muy frecuente en la ciudad de Paraná, que es el estrés hídrico. Este problema se presenta principalmente en las zonas más altas de la ciudad. El barrio Los Cedros generalmente enfrenta esta situación. El objetivo de este trabajoes solucionar el problema de baja presión de agua en el barrio Los Cedros de la ciudad de Paraná. Para cumplir con este objetivo, vamos a proponer la instalación de un tanque de almacenamiento comunitario en un punto estratégico del barrio

    Accumulated Garbage in the City of Parana: Analysis of the Implementation of a Material Recycling Facility (MRF)

    Summary— Paraná is the capital city of the province of Entre Ríos. It has a large population and is continuously growing, resulting in a very high population density. Therefore, it faces significant pollution issues due to the accumulation of garbage in various parts of the city. Improperly managed waste accumulates in different areas, causing pollution, blockages, and other problems that directly impact the living beings in the vicinity. The aim of this project is to analyze the implementation of recycling facilities with MRF technology to address the problems stemming from this waste accumulation while also maximizing resource utilization. The primary objective is to raise awareness about the garbage-related issues in our surroundings and find efficient solutions for them. Resumen— Paraná es la ciudad capital de la provincia de Entre Ríos, cuenta con una gran cantidad de habitantes y está en constante crecimiento, por lo tanto, la densidad de población es muy alta. Esto lleva a que sea una ciudad con un alto grado de contaminación por acumulación de basura en los distintos puntos de esta. La basura que no es tratada como corresponde se acumula en los distintos sectores de la ciudad generando contaminación, atascamientos y demás problemas que afectan de lleno a los seres vivos a su alrededor. El propósito de este proyecto es analizar la implementación de una planta de reciclaje con tecnología MRF para solucionar los problemas que genera esta basura y a su vez aprovechar al máximo los recursos. El objetivo principal es dar a conocer los problemas que tenemos a nuestro alrededor por culpa de la basura y poder corregirlos de una manera eficiente.

    Circulation of Emergency Vehicles: Installation of Smart Traffic Lights on Avenues

    Summary: In the city of Paraná, Entre Ríos, there is an inefficient circulation of emergency vehicles, mainly on the avenues. This is due to the lack of good planning and coordination between emergency services and traffic authorities, the lack of public awareness of the need to yield to emergency vehicles and the state of the streets. This project consists in the analysis of the implementation of smart traffic lights on major avenues. These smart traffic lights can detect and give priority to emergency vehicles, which could significantly reduce response times. Although there are implementation and maintenance costs, the benefits make up for the investment. This solution aims to improve the safety and efficiency of emergency vehicle circulation in Paraná. Resumen: En la ciudad de Paraná, Entre Ríos, existe una ineficiente circulación de vehículos de emergencia, principalmente en las avenidas. Esto se debe a la falta de una buena planificación y coordinación entre los servicios de emergencia y las autoridades de tránsito, a la falta de conciencia ciudadana sobre la necesidad de ceder el paso a los vehículos de emergencia y al estado de las calles. Este proyecto analiza la implementación de semáforos inteligentes en las grandes avenidas. Estos semáforos pueden detectar y dar prioridad a los vehículos de emergencia, lo que podría reducir significativamente los tiempos de respuesta. A pesar de los costos de implementación y mantenimiento, los beneficios compensan con creces la inversión. Esta solución pretende mejorar la seguridad y la eficiencia de la circulación de vehículos de emergencia en Paraná.

    Encouraging the Use of Electric Cars in Parana: Charging Stations in Urban Areas

    Summary—In Paraná, Entre Ríos, approximately 100,000 vehicles are in circulation, which means there is one vehicle for every 3.5 inhabitants. Only 5.6% of that figure represents electric vehicles. One of the reasons for the limited presence of electric vehicles is the lack of charging stations in the city. Our work aims to study how to promote greater use of electric cars by analyzing the implementation of charging stations for them. Resumen—En Paraná, Entre Ríos circulan alrededor de 100.000 vehículos, es decir, hay un vehículo por cada 3,5 habitantes aproximadamente. Sólo el 5,6% de esa cifra son vehículos eléctricos. Una de las razones por las que no hay muchos vehículos eléctricos es la falta de estaciones de carga en la ciudad. Nuestro trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar cómo promover un mayor uso de los coches eléctricos analizando la implementación de estaciones de carga para los mismos.

    Water Optimization in Paraná: Implementation of a Wastewater Treatment Plant

    Summary— The city of Paraná is located to the west of the Entre Ríos province. Being situated alongside the Paraná River, the city confronts a pressing problem. Untreated wastewater is being discharged in the Paraná River daily. The purposes of this work are to give awareness about wastewater, show causes and consequences and analyze a solution to the problem. To achieve these purposes, this paper is divided into three different sections that imply an analysis of the problem in context, its causes and consequences, a description of a solution by means of the installation of a wastewater treatment plant and a conclusion. Resumen— La ciudad de Paraná está ubicada al oeste de la provincia de Entre Ríos. Estando situada junto al río Paraná, la ciudad se enfrenta a un problema urgente. Las aguas residuales están siendo introducidas al río diariamente sin tratamiento previo. Los propósitos de este trabajo son generar conciencia sobre las aguas residuales, mostrar causas y consecuencias y analizar una solución al problema. Para lograr estos propósitos, este trabajo está dividido en tres diferentes secciones que implican un análisis del problema y su contexto, sus causas y consecuencias, una descripción de la solución que requiere la instalación de una planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales y una conclusión.

    Wind Farm in the North Access: Harnessing Wind Energy in Parana

    Summary— This project is developed in the city of Parana, which is the capital of Entre Rios. In this city, a large number of inhabitants live in buildings and apartments in the center. This part of the city does not have many trees or vegetation, and this causes different problems, such as high temperatures and high cost of energy. Other areas on the outskirts, such as the North Access, are widely open, with a lot of trees and green space. The objective of the project is to analyze a solution to the high cost of the energy bills introducing a wind farm in the north access of the city. This project analyzes the causes and consequences of the problem and explain the strengths and weaknesses of the solution. Resumen— Este proyecto está desarrollado en la ciudad de Paraná, capital de Entre Ríos. En esta ciudad, un gran número de habitantes vive en edificios y departamentos en el centro. Esta parte de la ciudad no tiene muchos árboles o vegetación y esto causa diferentes problemas, como las altas temperaturas o el alto costo de la energía eléctrica. Otras áreas suburbanas, como el Acceso Norte, son abiertas, con muchos árboles y espacios verdes. El objetivo de este proyecto es analizar una solución para los altos costos de las tarifas de energía introduciendo una granja eólica en el acceso norte de la ciudad. Este proyecto analiza las causas y consecuencias del problema y explica las fortalezas y debilidades de la solución.

    Fighting the Lack of Wildlife Friendly Architecture: Implementation of Automatic Bird Fountains on Facultad Regional Parana´s Rooftops

    Summary— Paraná, which is the capital city of Entre Ríos, is next to the Paraná River, which is one of the most important rivers in South America. The Paraná River’s great flow and long extension make it the perfect water source for hundreds of species of animals. However, the construction of a big city next to it disrupted the ecosystem of these animals. The main objective of this project is to address the lack of access to water for indigenous bird species within the urban environment. To achieve this aim, we will describe a possible solution that consists of the implementation of automatic bird fountains on the rooftops of Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) Facultad Regional Parana (FRP). In this work, the information is organized as follows. First, the problem, which is located in the city of Parana, is briefly addressed. Secondly, there is a description of the context where the problem is located, with a special focus on the area of interest for this project, which is the southwest area of the city. Then, the problem to be addressed, which affects thousands of birds in the city, is described. After this, there is a description of figures that show the problem and the areas surrounding UTN FRP premises where the problem is found. Next, the causes and consequences of this problem are analysed. Finally, the proposal of the solution is explained along with its strengths and weaknesses. It is expected that this work can raise awareness about the importance of reducing bird abandonment in the city as well as decreasing bird extinction in this area. By means of this work, we hope to inspire many citizens to take care of birds by applying similar sustainable measures in other areas of the city.

    Addressing Excess PET-Type Plastic Waste in Viale: Using a Plastic Extruder Machine for Recycling and Manufacturing

    Summary— Around the world, non-biodegradable waste poses a significant challenge. The central focus of this article is the pollution caused by polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in the city of Viale, highlighting its impact, causes and consequences. The lack of an efficient waste management system in Viale has led to a massive accumulation of plastics, affecting streets, parks and the quality of life of the inhabitants. The key proposal is the implementation of a PET extruder machine to address this problem. The presentation is organized as follows. First, the context is described, showing the city of Viale and the place where the project will be carried out. Second, images will be shown to help understand the problem. Third, the causes that give rise to this problem are shown as well as its consequences in the city. Finally, the solution will be presented, along with an action plan. This work aims to raise awareness about the real and visible impact of non-biodegradable plastics in the city of Viale. By means of this paper, we intend to promote more sustainable and responsible waste management to drastically reduce plastic pollution in this city. Also, it is important to consider that the PET extruder machine can improve the inhabitants ‘quality of life and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for all.

    Transportation-Related Air Pollution: Implementing Electric Bikes in Paraná

    Summary - Paraná, in Argentina, is the capital city of Entre Ríos and a place where there is a convergence of industrial sectors, cultural events, and urban growth. This city is characterized by these activities and a diverse landscape with 270 neighborhoods spread across its expanse of 137 square kilometers. This urban vitality comes with increased transportation, which contributes to air pollution. The purpose of this work is to address the problem of air pollution caused by transportation in Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina. This will be achieved by describing the implementation of electric bikes as a solution. This work is structured as follows. First, a detailed description of the city of Paraná is provided, with a focus on three key aspects: the cultural, historical, and tourist. Following that, the issue under study is presented, and its critical aspects are identified. Then, some images are described to help the reader visualize and understand the problem being addressed. Subsequently, the analysis of the causes that generate the issue is done. In the fifth section, the identification and detailed description of the consequences resulting from this problem are carried out. Then, the solution to the problem is proposed. Finally, in the last section, a comprehensive analysis of the advantages and disadvantages that come with the implementation of this solution is conducted. The expected impact of this work is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the improvement of air quality, and a healthier urban environment, ultimately enhancing the well-being of city residents and providing a sustainable transportation alternative. Therefore, this project represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future and a better balance between urban growth and environmental preservation.

    Urban Flooding: Improvement of Pluvial Drainage System against Saturations on Rondeau Avenue in Paraná

    Summary— Paraná has street flooding problems which arise during abundant rainfalls due to poor urban drainage systems. The focus of this study is a specific section of Rondeau Avenue which frequently experiences street floodings. The purpose of this presentation is to address the urban flooding problem on Rondeau Avenue in Paraná. This can be done by achieving an efficient urban drainage system that meets current and future requirements. This involves the improvement of the poor stormwater drainage system maintenance and the incorporation of storm retarders. This work is structured as follows. First, the description of the context provides a brief description of Paraná city, the area where the problem is located and the points of interest around this area. After that, the persistent flooding problem experienced on Rondeau Avenue is addressed. Next, there is a description of some scenes that help picture the problematic situation. Then, the causes of the problem as well as its consequences are analyzed. The following section focuses on the Problem Approach which offers an effective and feasible engineering solution. Finally, the main strengths and weaknesses of this proposal are examined. Through this work, we expect to provide an overview of the problem that affects a section of Rondeau Avenue, with the objective of raising awareness about this situation which impacts the neighbor’s daily life and it often lacks proper visibility. Moreover, we want to address the problem by providing an innovative solution that can serve as a blueprint for solving other similar cases in the city as well.
