    Plastic Pollution Effects on the River Biodiversity : Cleaning of Plastics by The Interceptor Original Ship, in the Paraná City New Port

    Summary: In the city of Paraná there is an inefficient management of plastic waste. Improper management of it poses a great danger to the biodiversity of the river and its surroundings. The risk is greater when inappropriate practices are conducted such as throwing away plastic waste in the Paraná River or in the streams that flow into it and that generate the water pollution. The purpose of this work is to address the problem of plastic pollution in the Paraná River. As well as this, a solution related to the cleaning of the river by extracting plastics in a part of the Paraná River is going to be discussed. Resumen: En la ciudad de Paraná existe un manejo poco eficiente de los residuos plásticos. El manejo inadecuado de estos representa un gran peligro para la biodiversidad del río y sus alrededores. El riesgo es mayor cuando se realizan prácticas inapropiadas, como arrojar residuos plásticos en el río Paraná o en los arroyos que desembocan en él, lo que genera la contaminación del agua. El propósito de este trabajo es abordar el problema de la contaminación plástica en el río Paraná. Además, se discutirá una solución relacionada con la limpieza del río mediante la extracción de plásticos en una parte del río Paraná.

    Soil Contamination by Plastics: Collection and Recycling of Plastic Waste from the Paraná Landfill

    The soil is one of the most important natural resources and it is a non-renewable resource. Soil is essential to life, like water and air. Its preservation is essential for food security and our sustainable future. In the last years, it has become more evident that the activities of the man have created situations in which the rate of soil loss is greater than its formation. This dangerously alters its natural balance, and one of the processes that influence its deterioration to a greater degree is pollution by plastics. The purpose of this presentation is to address the problem of soil contamination by plastics in the landfill of the city of Paraná and to discuss a solution emphasizing the importance of plastics collection for future recycling. El suelo es uno de los recursos naturales más importantes y es un recurso no renovable. El suelo es esencial para la vida, al igual que el agua y el aire. Su preservación es fundamental para la seguridad alimentaria y nuestro futuro sostenible. En los últimos años, se ha vuelto más evidente que las actividades humanas han creado situaciones en las que la tasa de pérdida de suelo es mayor que su formación. Esto altera peligrosamente su equilibrio natural, y uno de los procesos que influyen en su deterioro en mayor medida es la contaminación por plásticos. El propósito de este trabajo es abordar el problema de la contaminación del suelo por plásticos en el basural a cielo abierto de la ciudad de Paraná y discutir una solución haciendo hincapié en la importancia de la recolección de plásticos para su futuro reciclaje.
