Abstract
This work addresses the problem presented by the company PAYCUEROS S.A., which seeks to increase the cooling capacity of process water from 14 m3/h to 20 m3/h. The study examines available technological alternatives in vapor-compression refrigeration systems using ammonia as a natural refrigerant, with special emphasis on analyzing their main components and developing the associated engineering for each. The project includes the original design of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger intended for water cooling, for which the thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical calculations are detailed in accordance with TEMA and ASME standards. This work is structured into the following chapters: Introduction, Basic Engineering, Detailed Engineering, Calculation Report, Bibliography, and Annexes, providing a clear, progressive presentation of the design process and the results.
