Abstract
This work tries to investigate some of the consequences of having used absolute virtual learning environments during the Covid-19 pandemic; particularly on mental models in Electrostatics in students of an engineering career where these contents are very relevant to their professional profile. Specifically, the results of a questionnaire used in previous research were compared between two cohorts, from pre- and post-pandemic scenarios. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyzes revealed in general terms that the latter presented significant differences with the former, where mental models of lower cognitive performance on scientifically accepted knowledge were evidenced. It was deduced that it is necessary to inquire about the mental models of students today, both to design the teaching-learning process, and to be able to train a competent professional.
