Abstract
In the present work, the technical and economic feasibility of the implementation of a hybrid generation system with energy storage in Lithium-Ion and Lead-acid batteries is evaluated, within the framework of the ERA program. The objective is to estimate the potential economic savings for a residential user and the optimal operation strategy of the system. For the study, the city of Santa Fe is selected as reference, the load profile of a standard distributor is modeled based on typical energy consumption of residential users and the annual unavailability table is established, with hourly and seasonal discrimination of the events causing power outage. Then, with simulations based on the optimization of the levelized cost of energy, the hybrid system is dimensioned for different levels of the price of energy. Ultimately, a sensitivity analysis is performed based on changes in the investment cost of the batteries and in the average time of network unavailability. The results show that the economic savings do not justify the implementation of the hybrid generation system with energy storage.
