Abstract
El uso de los datos que proporcionan los satélites solo tiene como límite a la imaginación
del hombre, ejemplo de esto son los trabajos sobre distribución espacial de población y su
relación con el producto bruto interno o con el nivel de consumo, también su aplicación para
detectar la presencia de población en zonas escasamente pobladas o bien para cuantificar la
dispersión de la población en grandes aglomeraciones urbanas. Este trabajo busca estable-
cer una metodología que permita definir los límites de las ciudades a nivel regional (Argen-
tina) a partir de las imágenes satelitales obtenidas por el Suomi National Polar Partnership.
The use of data provided by satellites is only bounded by human imagination, an example of this is the analysis of spatial distribution of the population and its correlation with GDP or consumption level, also on its implementation to detect the presence of people in sparsely populated areas or rather to quantify the distribution of population in large urban agglome- rations.
