Abstract
In the San Francisco Regional Faculty of the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN), a high proportion of students in the first year of engineering careers have historically featured a low academic performance in exams taken in basic subject courses. This causes several students to repeat this type of subjects several times in order to achieve regularity or a passing grade, which results in delays and, in many cases, in students leaving their career. For this reason, the present work proposes an exploratory study on the performance of students repeating basic subject courses in the first year of engineering careers at UTN San Francisco. This work will mainly contribute to the local Academic Management Area, since it will help them determine future actions allowing improvements in the academic performance for basic subject courses.
