Dengue Prediction in Paraná: An AI-Driven Approach to Combat Dengue

Abstract

Summary— Paraná, the provincial capital, presents challenges to act against dengue fever. These challenges entail stagnant water sources that become breeding grounds and pose health risks to the residents. However, the main challenge lies in the lack of an effective system to help authorities act against this pest. The aim of this project is to analyse how AI could be a tool to use against dengue and show the strengths and weaknesses this project could have. In order to fulfill this purpose, this work is organized as follows. Firstly, the Paraná Department is going to be contextualized; as well as this, the problem that represents the dengue fever is going to be described. Then, the causes and consequences of this problem are going to be analysed. Next, an approach to the problem is going to be described, followed by the strengths and weaknesses of the project. This work is expected to contribute to the analysis of AI solutions to current health challenges.

Resumen— Paraná, la capital provincial, presenta desafíos para actuar contra el dengue. Estos desafíos incluyen el hecho que las fuentes de agua estancada se convierten en fuentes de reproducción y plantean riesgos para la salud de los residentes. Sin embargo, el principal desafío radica en la falta de un sistema eficaz que ayude a las autoridades a actuar contra esta plaga. El objetivo de este proyecto es analizar cómo la IA podría ser una herramienta contra el dengue y mostrar las fortalezas y debilidades que podría tener este proyecto. Para alcanzar este propósito, este trabajo se organiza de la siguiente manera. En primer lugar, se contextualizará el Departamento Paraná; además, se describe el problema que representa la fiebre del dengue. Después, se analizarán las causas y consecuencias. Seguidamente, se describirá un abordaje del problema, junto a las fortalezas y debilidades de este proyecto. Se espera que este proyecto contribuya al análisis de soluciones a desafíos de salud de la actualidad.
