Comportamiento de tableros conformados por partículas provenientes de residuos de desmote y resina urea formaldehído frente al agua

Abstract
En el nordeste argentino, se presentan inconvenientes relacionados a grandes cantidades de residuo de desmote generado en la producción de algodón. Se propone como alternativa, su empleo en la elaboración de tableros de partículas aglomerados con resina urea – formaldehído para su utilización en construcción o mobiliario. Se evaluaron tableros monocapa formados por dos granulometrías de partículas, fina y gruesa, respectivamente, diferentes contenidos de resina (entre 11,9 % y 20,6 %), presiones de moldeo que van desde 3 a 4,75 MPa y la presencia o no de un agente hidrofugante como la emulsión de parafina. Se evaluó la densidad, el hinchamiento y la absorción de las muestras, saturada durante 24 hs y secadas al aire durante 7 días. Si bien, los tableros excedieron el límite normativo para hinchamiento, emplear partículas másfinas, mayores contenidos de resina y presiones de moldeo y la inclusión de parafina permite mejorar el comportamiento del material.
In northeastern of Argentina, there are problems related to large quantities of ginning residues generated in cotton production. As an alternative, its use in the production of particleboards agglomerated with urea-formaldehyde resin, for use in construction or furniture, is proposed. Monolayer boards formed by two particle sizes, fine and coarse, respectively, different resin contents (between 11,9 % and 20,6 %), molding pressures ranging from 3 to 4,75 MPa and the presence or not of a water-repellent agent such as paraffin emulsion were evaluated. The density, swelling and absorption of the samples, saturated for 24 hs and air-dried for 7 days, were evaluated. Although the particleboards exceeded the regulatory limit for swelling, the use of finer particles, higher resin contents and molding pressures and the inclusion of paraffin allow improving the behavior of the material.
