Abstract
The Secretariat for University Policies (SPU) has identified that the rate of student attrition in the first year reaches approximately 60%, and observes a noticeable slowdown in the courses taken, especially in the first year of certain disciplinary fields, extending on average two or three years. This represents a significant challenge for all higher education institutions. In response to this problem, UTN Regional Faculty La Plata (UTN La Plata) since 2022 has implemented the Program of Accompaniment of Educational Trajectories (PATE), where "Continuous Trajectories" becomes a central axis. This axis arises from the need to establish accompanying policies for students during their university career, especially in the first year of the career. Under this framework, in 2023 the Engineering Boost Program/Peer Mentoring is formalized in the institution, with the aim of generating institutional conditions that allow student accompaniment through social and emotional support provided by peer tutors specialized in the various fields of the faculty. This paper presents the background, general and specific objectives of the program, its methodology and explains the expected results of its implementation.
