Abstract
Flexible mechanisms can be interpreted as rigid bodies linked by flexible elements. When these mechanisms lack of kinematic pairs, they are of high precision because of the movement is a con sequence of the deformation of their flexible elements. For certain applications, the mechanisms must meet dynamic specifications, for example, the resonance frequencies must belong to certain range of values. That is why at the design stage of the mechanism a modal analysis must be done. In this work, mechanisms with flexible elements of the beam type are analyzed. The description of the movement of the mechanism, both of the rigid bodies and the flexible elements, is addressed using the Screw Theory. Two parallel flexible mechanisms are analyzed and the analytical results obtained are compared with finite element analysis results
