Abstract
A test methodology to determine the infiltration capacity in laboratory was explored. That was done in the context of a research project aimed at quantifying the impact of wildfires on infiltration capacity of basins in the province of Cordoba (Argentina), This has a number of advantages, among others, including: controlled environmental conditions (temperature, wind, etc.); accessibility to services (water, electricity, etc.); better operation of electronic measuring systems. The main project objective is to quantifying infiltration capacity in soil samples in pre-fire and post-fire conditions, to the same intensity of simulated rainfall. Prior to the systematic implementation of these tests, it is necessary to define a methodology to get reliable measures, and comparable with in situ experimentation, of infiltration capacity on representative samples of the topsoil. This paper presents the experimental methodology proposed, considerations to take into account in the experiment development and information processing, and results of a preliminary test for validating this methodology.
