Abstract
Camelid fiber production represents an activity of environmental, cultural and economic value for the high-Andean region of Catamarca. Also, NIRS technology (Near Infrared Spectroscopy) offers a quick and low cost analysis with none or minimal sample preparation and the possibility of implementation in situ. The objective of this work was to evaluate those factors affecting fiber spectral repeatability. Three samples of vicuña were analyzed with a spectrophotometer, applying different sample sizes, densities and presentation forms. The repeatability was evaluated in terms of the RMS (Root Mean Square), Variance and Standard Deviation statistical methods. This study has allowed to select fiber measurement parameters that provide the better spectral repeatability, with it we will proceed to perform calibrations with the total samples to determine fiber quality characteristics.
