Abstract
In the context of a research project whose objective is the quantification of the impact of wildfires on the infiltration capacity in watersheds in the province of Córdoba (Argentina), a methodology, that allows the realization of tests for the determination of infiltration capacity in the laboratory, through the use of a rainfall simulator, was explored. In previous works a similar methodology was applied but in controlled experiments in Laboratory, showing certain difficulties in the extraction, transfer and conservation of the soil samples to be tested, which led to the evaluation of the methodology described here. Two trials were carried out, in pre-fire and post-fire conditions, at the same intensity of simulated rainfall, in a rural area near the town of Alta Gracia (Córdoba province). The test area is 0.50 m x 0.50 m; with rain intensities between 111 and 115 mm / h, and test durations of 1.25 hs. Surface runoff was measured with an electronic scale. The instrumentation was completed with a volumetric humidity sensor installed 18 cm below the surface and the use of a pyrometer for the measurement of temperatures. The preliminary results suggest a decrease in the infiltration capacity of the area tested in post-fire conditions, which would validate the project's research hypothesis.
