Synthesis of polypyrrol nanowires within SBA-3 and Na-AISBA-3 materials.

Abstract

Mesoporous materials, such as SBA-3 and Na-Al-SBA-3 having hexagonal ordered mesopores and an extremely high specific surface area, offer unique opportunities for the preparation of new nanostructure composite materials. The incorporation of conducting polymers such as polypyrrole (PPy) into nanostructured materials is very interesting. The introduction of macromolecules offers specific properties in the composite material. The use of monomer adsorption from the vapor phase has been successfully employed earlier by us, adsorbing the monomer into de pores of nanostructured materials and not on the outside surface, ready for the in-situ polymerization [1, 2]. The adsorption into the pores takes place by capillary effects. In this work, for first time we report the synthesis of polypyrrole in SBA-3 and Na-Al-SBA-3 composites, studying the influence of two oxidant agent at different temperatures
