Abstract
The developed work provides a detailed and careful study about Argentina’s energy matrix that takes into account all energy sources (primary and secondary) by means of the methodology and the grouping of values according to the time data series of the national energy balance between 1970 and 2005. These have been developed by the Energy Secretary. After that, we proceeded with a complete analysis of energy and economic country models, with a particular emphasis on energy sources that weigh more heavily in the energy matrix, and thus being the most widely used for developing economic and social activity. To reach this aim it was imple- mented a computational and statistical tool known as cluster analysis that is frequently used to identify patterns of behaviour of a given system. It allowed us to characterize energy sources and the habit of consumption and subsequently to arrive at conclusions that will contribute to a better and more efficient use of technical - economical energy resources.
