Abstract
Los estudios epidemiológicos y seguimientos clínicos son necesarios para cuantificar los parámetros
estructurales y dinámicos de las arterias. Ellos son importantes predictores de enfermedades vasculares,
que son un problema de salud que involucra aspectos sociales y económicos. La medición de la Velocidad de la Onda del Pulso es una técnica simple, confiable y reproducible, que puede ser determinada en forma no invasiva en pacientes ambulatorios. El propósito de este trabajo es describir un prototipo portátil desarrollado para medir la Velocidad de la Onda del Pulso en una población numerosa y analizar la posibilidad de emplearlo en un seguimiento clínico alejado.
Epidemiological studies and clinical trials are needed to determine values of structural and dynamic arterial wall parameters. These are very important predictors of vascular disease that not only is a health problem but also is a social and economic concern. Pulse Wave Velocity is a simple, reliable and reproducible technique that can be determined non invasively in ambulatory patients. The purpose of this work is to describe a portable prototype developed to measure the Pulse Wave Velocity in a large sample of ambulatory patients and to analyse the possibility to be used in a clinical follow up.
